This Is MoonSplash
What is Moonsplash?
Moon Splash Takes place at the Dune Preserve, on Anguilla's pristine Rendezvous Bay. It's practically a country-within-a-country: a cavernous beach bar and concert venue carved so closely from the beachfront setting that it could have sprung up naturally. It normally starts around the first full moon before Easter. The concert is hosted by Anguilla’s very own Bankie Banx, featuring internationally-acclaimed and regional recording artiste from around the world. It's three-day annual music festival -- and one of the all-around coolest events in the Caribbean. The fest, which has in its 25 year history hosted everyone from The Wailers and Rita Marley to Steel Pulse and Toots and the Maytals. The concert was headlined in 2011 by roots reggae stalwarts Black Uhuru and Third World and many other Jamaican dancehall artiste such as singer Alaine, Lady Patra and Chronixx, but there were also a host of local performers on the bill. John Mayer wasn't officially one of them -- his was a surprise cameo -- but such surprises are de rigeur at Moonsplash: One year, Jimmy Buffett appeared onstage for a set.
